Much of Florida under state of emergency as possible tropical storm forms in Gulf of Mexico
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for most of the state's Gulf coast as a weather system off the coast of Mexico could potentially become a tropical storm and move towards the area. The National Hurricane Center predicts a 70% chance of the system becoming a tropical storm by Monday. While the storm's path and strength are uncertain, it has the potential to cause flooding, power outages, storm surge, and tornadoes.
